Chef Jaime Laurita shares the best smoothie combinations for flavor, smooth texture and nutrition

Ah summer, ’tis the season for refreshing smoothies. It’s the time we crave cool iciness and the bursting flavor of fresh fruit. (And it’s also when we’re suddenly motivated to practice clean eating after those tough winter months got the best of us.)

Watch as celebrity chef and cookbook author Jaime Laurita shares one of his favorite smoothie recipes and shows us how the right kind of ice can put the smooth in smoothie.

I believe that the nugget ice machine and those beautiful Marvel ice nuggets actually put the smooth in smoothie.

INGREDIENTS

  • 1 cup Cooked Quinoa
  • 1 Banana
  • 1/2 cup Frozen Peaches
  • 1/4 cup Frozen Strawberries
  • 1/4 cup Frozen Blueberries
  • 2 cups Marvel Nugget Ice
  • 1/2 cup Vanilla Greek Yogurt
  • 1 cup Tart Cherry Juice
  • 1 tsp Turmeric
  • 2 TBSP Honey
  • 1 TBSP (heaping) Orange Marmalade

OTHER FRUIT COMBINATIONS:
Mangos, Banana, Blackberries and Strawberries
Pineapple, Blueberries, Papaya and Banana
Kiwi, Banana, Papaya and Oranges

OTHER GRAIN OPTIONS:
Cooked Steel Cut Oats
Cooked Brown Rice

OTHER JUICE OPTIONS:
Pineapple Juice
Cranberry Juice
Pomegranate Juice

DIRECTIONS

Place all ingredients into a high power blender. Blend thoroughly and enjoy!
